11 markets, over 70 years of tradition, several million pairs of boots and shoes and invaluable emotions that cannot be compared with anything. Meet Tapi, the Polish brand that prioritizes family, durability and attention to detail. Many years ago we have started manufacturing footwear in Jordanów, 60 km from Krakow. This is where we operate to this day. As time progressed we have expanded the company with our own constructors and production lines. We're proud to say we have our consistent team of employees - some of them have been with our company for several decades. The solid foundations of our company have been laid out by the grandfather, Władysław. His sons, Tadeusz and Piotr, followed in his footsteps, as well as grandchildren Anna, Radosław, Dariusz and Aleksander. This is the 3. generation of Żur family that manufactures footwear and has certified education in shoemaking. We care not only about the past and present, but also about the future, which is why we keep introducing into our offer new, increasingly advanced models of footwear and respect our Mother Earth. In the last year we have reduced our CO2 emissions by over 50%! We understand the importance of moments - both the small ones, and the big, special ones. Our mission is to create exceptional footwear that will accompany you in all moments of your life.

THE HISTORY OF THE BRAND TAPI

IT ALL STARTED WITH MR. WŁADYSŁAW

The history of the family business Tapi dates back as far as 1947. This is when Władysław Żur began his apprenticeship in shoemaking workshop „Dziechciowski” in Rabka-Zdrój. The key moment occurred 3 years later. In 1950 Mr. Władysław is awarded the title of apprentice in shoemaking, which allows him to start his own footwear manufacturing business. Soon after that the man from which it all started began educating next generations of shoemakers.

FAST DEVELOPMENT

100 PAIRS OF FLIP FLOPS DAILY

In 1965 manufacturing speeds up. Mr. Władysław purchases leather cutting machinery that allows him to manufacture up to 30 pairs of footwear per day! Earlier a Singer sewing machine and the strength of his hands allowed him to manufacture 10 pairs daily, at best. Just 5 years later, thanks to buying a die cutting hydraulic press, which used metal knives to cut out parts from rubber or leather - Mr. Władysław's production levels reach as high as 100 pairs of flip flops per day!

NEXT BIG STEP

PLANT IN JORDANÓW

1984 is the start of 3-year construction of building in Jordanów, which is going to serve as the manufacturing plant. The construction work is supervised by Mr. Władysław, who left the family business to his son, Piotr, two years prior. At the same time Władysław's second son, Tadeusz, after being awarded his engineering title in tanning technologies, works as the manager of a tannery in Zakopane.

TIME OF HUGE CHANGES

THE BIRTH OF TAPI

After the fall of communism, the beginning of 90's brought enormous changes. On the 15th January 1991 Tadeusz and Piotr Żur, sons of Mr. Władysław, establish in Jordanów their partnership Tapi. The name comes from the first names of its founders. Interestingly enough Jordanów has huge shoemaking traditions dating back to the pre-war period. In the local church there's an altar dedicated to patron saints of shoemaking - saints Crispin and Crispinian. But that's not all in terms of changes. In 1991-1992 Tapi purchased shoemaking machinery from bankrupt NZPS Podhale shoemaking plant, and employed professional workers that were left without a job after the bankruptcy of the plant.

WE'RE GETTING STRONGER

THE FIRST THOUSAND

Just a year later the company acquired the first customer to wholesale order 1000 pairs of shoes! At the same time Tapi took on its first trainees, which are with the company to this day. In 1993 the company purchases the manufacturing hall at ul. Maczka 98 in Jordanów. This is the place where, after many refurbishments, the company seat is located still to this day. The building has a surface area of over 400m2. At first it seems, that such a large area couldn't possibly be filled up, but just 2 years later the construction of the second hall kicked off.

WE HAVE BEEN APPRECIATED

MEDAL AT THE FAIR IN POZNAŃ

In 2007 the company TAPI received the gold medal at the International Fair in Poznań, for the best footwear of the exhibition. All thanks to the model 500, combining exceptional litheness, softness and comfort. One of the advantages of this model of footwear is its sole made of special material allowing it to freely flex as required. The unique form of this model makes it especially recommended for all drivers. Another advantage is using an interchangeable leather insole. Model 500 can be easily worn by persons with high instep.

WE'RE CHANGING

GOING WITH THE TIMES

In 2020 the plant has been expanded with a new manufacturing line for studded footwear, complete with rough cementing machine and other smart devices.

WE CARE FOR NATURAL ENVIRONMENT

WE HAVE REDUCED OUR CARBON FOOTPRINT

Thanks to deep thermal modernization of the building that was completed in 2021, we have reduced our CO2 emissions by over 53%, which means 34.24 tons per year. This is equivalent to planting more than 170 trees! How did we make it happen? We have installed over 50 photovoltaic panels, heat pumps, and thanks to recuperation and compressor heat recovery we have started recovering leftover heat from manufacturing

WE'RE DEVELOPING

WE'VE INTRODUCED WATERPROOF HIKING BOOTS

We keep developing. This year we have introduced into the market waterproof natural leather hiking boots which - same as the rest of our products - are manufactured in Poland. In our offer you will find boots with Te-Por membrane enhanced with sealed seams and waterproof soles, variants with insulation, high visibility strings and tapes as well as models beautified with designer materials in honeycomb patterns. Selected models have been equipped with sturdy holds and steel shoelace hooks designed by Bertone Design company, as well as rubber protecting the shoe from scratches.
